On Friday 7th September, The Ely Centre hosted a Legacy Consultation Discussion in Colebrooke, the home of the new Brooke House Project.
This meeting provided an opportunity for victims, survivors and veterans and ex members of the RUC to hear further detail of the proposed legacy institutions within the consultation document and also hear the views of local political representatives.
We really appreciated the great turnout at this event and we would also like to thank Mrs Arlene Foster MLA , Mr Doug Beattie MLA and M Mr Tom Elliott for being the political representatives upon the panel.
Furthermore we would like to thank the NIO, Dept. of Foreign Affairs and the Commission for Victims and Survivors contributing upon the panel.
The Ely Centre are in the final stages of preparing our Consultation response, which highlight many of the very genuine concerns raised by members thus far and voiced at the latest meeting. We will work with our partners who specialise within the Advocacy Field to ensure that these concerns are made known both publically and privately to ensure victims and survivors are placed front and centre in any legacy process.
A copy of the slides from both the NIO and Dept of Foreign Affairs will be made available for all to peruse upon the centres website and the centres response in due course.
