The Ely Centre and Brooke House are delighted to announce the opening of our Co Armagh Office based in Markethill
In recent months the Military and Victims Charity has secured funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust and the Victims and Survivors Service to continue the development of Health and Well Being Services and Welfare and Benefits Advice Services for Victims and Survivors of the Troubles and Veterans of HM Forces as well as Retired RUC Officers residing in the Co Armagh and surrounding areas.
Mr Jim Dixon, the Ely Centre Chairperson stated; “with established and highly effective operational bases in Enniskillen and the Colebrooke Estate as part of our strategic development we have always sought to provide a similar level of services to Veterans and Victims who reside or have served in other border counties. For many years we have worked with Victims Charities within this area and we will continue to work in partnership with those organisations and develop new relationships to ensure that the greatest level of support for our Veterans and Victims & Survivors need is provided through the services either we or our partner agencies provide, As a Board we express our sincerest appreciation to The Victims and Survivors Services and The Armed Forces Covenenat Trust for their continued support to this organisation and encouraging our development”.
The new outreach offices are located at No 7 & 11 Fairgreen Road. Over the past number of weeks the team have been working tirelessly to equip the offices to a high therapeutic standard and have also recruited CBT and EMDR therapists to the Mental Health Team as well as Physiotherapists and Complementary Therapy Providers who are ready to commence service delivery.
Mrs Frances Nolan Chairperson Brooke House stated, “As Chair of the Brooke House Steering Committee I am delighted with the new staffing team which has been recruited to support our clients. The many years’ experience and expertise in their chosen field which each new employee brings will ensure that those we are seeking to support are provided with the highest quality services. The new personnel are a great addition to the excellent staffing teams already in place in Fermanagh and working together we will create a better future for those we seek to help and their families.
The new outreach team comprises of the following staff (L-R) Mr Ivan Bingham – Veterans Health and Well Being Manager, Mrs Christine Spence – Veterans Health and Well Being Support Officer, Mr David Taylor Welfare Support Officer, Mr Danny Kennedy Welfare Support Officer and Mrs Glenda Milligan Victims Health and Well Being Case Officer, Mr Ben Higgins (Appointment Only) Veterans Welfare Support Officer.
Over the coming month, the team will be arranging a number of Information Days, Health and Well Being Fairs in the local area to showcase the support available in house and also available through our partner organisations. Furthermore we are delighted to have partnered with Combat Stress who will be hosting veterans peer to peer monthly support groups commencing in October. We will continue to take our message out on the road and a number of Information Roadshows are scheduled to ensure that as many eligible persons are aware of the support that is available to them and their dependants.
